Newsletter

FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

We’ve got lots to report in this issue of your newsletter! First of all; for those who aren’t already aware, our club has the new and improved website up and running at www.classicchevyclub-ns.com

Thanks to Rick Merrill for all his work in getting us to this point. If you have access to the internet, sign on and have a look. Pass along your email address if you have one, and keep in mind that suggestions are welcome! Remember to check back regularly, as we will be continuously upgrading and improving our new site as well as using it for more quickly providing any news. Once we get a few things figured out we will probably be devising a way to offer our newsletter electronically to those members who are on the web. This will result in cost savings for the club, and more timely issuing of the newsletter.

Another development is the establishment of a regular meeting place for the CCCNS for the next few months. From our next meeting on December 7 until the May 31 meeting (excluding the February meeting; which will be held at the club’s 20th birthday party) , we will be meeting in the Community Room of the SuperStore on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax. Our meetings have traditionally been held on Sundays, so that our members from out of town or otherwise unavailable would have a better chance of attending. However, actual attendance did not indicate that this was working, and indeed we received comments that the weekend scheduling of the meeting made it more difficult to attend. With this in mind; and because this facility is not available on Sundays, we decided to try Thursday nights instead. Hopefully more members will find this new time to be more convenient. We welcome all comments and will schedule our future meetings based on the feedback we receive. See the directions for finding the SuperStore, and dates and times of the meetings, elsewhere in this newsletter.

At the next meeting we will be covering a number of important issues, including choosing a worthy use for our club’s Christmas Fund, which is in the $400 range. As most of you are aware, we raise this money throughout the year, and then Support needy families or other worthy causes each Christmas. We also will be reviewing the progress made to date on the big 20th Anniversary Classic Chevy Weekend being planned for next summer by Peter Stokdijk and his band of volunteers,  and announcing the club event logo contest. Many of you remember the T-shirts form the early years which featured some pretty unique logos, so pull out pen and paper and help us come up with something special to acknowledge that the club is now 20 years old!!

Look elsewhere in this newsletter for more exciting news on the club, and hang on to your hat, ‘cause 2001 promises to be a blast!!
