CCCNS 2004 CLASSIC CHEVY WEEKEND

On the weekend of September 25-26, 2004, the Classic Chevy Club of Nova Scotia held their annual Classic Chevy Weekend (commonly also called the Fall Outing). This time the host facility was the beautiful MacKay's Cottages along the Sunrise Trail near Pictou. The owner turned out to also be a car guy, and took us on a tour of his multi-bay shop, which held an old Rolls Royce and a Model 1. (The Rolls was sold later at the Barrett Jackson auction).

The weather was beautiful, and approximately 50 club members brought 14 toys out to play. The weekend was filled with games, laughs, good food, a great couple of auctions for charity, and a club meeting. Once the results of the Participant's Judging were added up, the following members' cars were recognized:

Participant's Choice 1955 Chevy: Lorne & Dorothy Gilbert's BelAir hardtop

Participant's Choice 1956 Chevy: Donnie & Debbie Martin's BelAir hardtop

Participant's Choice 1957 Chevy: Wilbert & Nancy Bali's BelAir sedan

Special Interest (Tie): Rick Merrill and Sharon Flemming's 1964 Chevelle SS
Rick & Paula Dempsey's 1972 Nova SS

On Sunday; after the club meeting, several club members cruised the Sunset Trail back to Truro while en route to Halifax. All in all, it was a great time.

Donny and Debbie Martin brought their sparkling '56 BelAir, which was chosen by their fellow members to receive the "Participant's Choice 1956" award.

New members Mac and Leanne Sayle brought one of three club vehicles over from Prince Edward Island. Their sharp '56 Nomad was the only wagon in attendance.

Robb Todd and Carrie Macleod brought their powerful '68 Camaro along. With a BIG inch bigblock under the hood, the Saturday afternoon tire shredding demo kept the mosquitoes away and left a permanent grin on passenger Terry landry's face!

Harold and Deb Jardine had their flamed '55 210 there as well. Harold continues to make many small changes to this car in search of perfectlem. The latest was a gear swap in 9” rearend.
